HCEA Campaign Receives Exhibitor

Exhibitor Magazine - “Women rule! Or at least they
reigned supreme at the 2004 Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association
show in
HCEA exhibitor Matrex Exhibits Inc. estimated that females made up a whopping
93 percent of the 134 attendees. That’s why the Addison, IL, exhibit house
wanted a strategy to demonstrate its integrated-marketing capabilities to this
high-heeled, marketing-savvy crowd of exhibit and event managers.
Matrex had three goals: 1) lure in 45 to 50 of Matrex Exhibits’ 134 targeted
attendees, 2) facilitate one-on-one conversations that last longer than the
previous year’s two-minute average, and 3) allow booth staff to regulate the
amount of time spent with each attendee, depending on lead quality.
The solution? An in-booth, personal-image
consultation, which served as a metaphor for the promotional theme: “Matrex
Exhibits — Image Consultants to the Medical Industry.”
The promotion began with 134 handmade mailers that invited recipients to the
booth for a free image consultation. The beige and khaki-green color palette
and textured paper hand-tied with natural straw created the look of a custom
wedding invitation.
“We had to create something so nice that recipients wouldn’t think of throwing
